Shooting at Chase Bank Drive-Thru Kills 3, Including Child: What We Know

Three people, including a child, were killed in what officials have called “an apparent murder-suicide” at the drive-thru of a Chase Bank in Florida on Friday.

The incident happened at a bank in Miami near Bird Road and 152nd Avenue, Miami-Dade Police Department told Newsweek.

An on-duty uniformed sergeant heard gunshots while driving in the area, according to the department. The officer responded to the area and discovered the bodies of an adult female and child inside of a minivan. They also found an adult male dead on the passenger side of the van.

Officials say the woman was in a drive thru of the bank when the man pulled up next to her and opened fire at the van.

The man then fatally shot himself.

Officials have not released any names, ages or possible relationships between the victims. The incident is still under investigation

“We don’t know familial ties yet, homicide is on scene, they are investigating,” Miami-Dade Police Detective Luis Sierra told NBC Miami.

Anyone with information should contact CrimeStoppers at (305)471-TIPS (8477) or (866) 471-8477.

This is the third apparent murder-suicide reported in the area this week.

A man and woman were killed and the woman’s son was hospitalized after a suspected murder-suicide in Coral Gables on Wednesday. Officials said the 61-year-old man is believed to have shot the 41-year-old woman and her 20-year-old son, then himself. The man and woman were in a domestic partnership.

The 20-year-old underwent surgery at Jackson South Hospital and is in stable condition.

An elderly couple, their son and his wife were killed in another reported apparent-murder suicide on June 2 in Kendale Lakes. Police found an adult female dead in one room, and an adult male and female dead in another room. All three had apparent gunshot wounds. Officials later found an adult male dead from with an apparent self-inflicted wound.

The man who died by an apparent self-inflicted wound was reported as between the ages of 60-65. Two of the victims were between the age of 80-85, and the other victim’s age has not been announced.

One of the victims was receiving hospice care. Neighbors told local news outlets the woman had suffered a stroke.

All four victims reportedly lived in the home where the shootings occurred.

“I’m stunned because I’ve been living here for 25 years and nothing like this has ever happened,” a neighbor told CBS News.

Police are still investigating both of these incidents as well.
